Set the length of your project after you have started it.

create folder on workspace
save project to folder on workspace
collect media on

Project Window: Groups: Objects---------Keep Objects Organized

Interface

Work area- Canvas

Add content (from workspace)
  • file browser
  • To change duration of added elements :
    • Drag from either end in timeline, or
    • highlight track in timeline, place playhead at point you want to cut, Menu>Edit>split and delete the area you don't want, or
    • to make objects shorter as you add them, go to Motion>Preferences>Project and change duration here:

  • psd files-drag into window and hold until menu appears, then select import all layers

note that content appears in layers and timeline at playhead

Move and animate content
  • Add keyframe in properties window, hover mouse over left side of property you wish to keyframe, then click to add a key frame
  • Inspector_and_lets_go_class_demo.jpg
  • record button- records changes-move playhead, then change any property, and that change is recorded
  • anything red is keyframable

Masks with beziers
control points, handles
right click-smooth, linear


Behaviors
  • Experiment!
  • Stay away from Live fonts- too cheesy
  • Apply then to any object or group, tweak parameters
  • Creates animation with out keyframing, but best used in concert with kayframing


Tips

Change project duration by clicking and dragging on the numbers in the bottom right corner of the canvas, then drag the slider in the mini time line to extend the active area out.

2d objects in 3d space

Camera becomes an object you can move- represents the view of final movie
Add camera
Move everything to 3d
Note 3d/2d marker in project window
Objects in 2d will stay in front of camera, can mix 2 and 3 d objects
Describe view controls
Type of views- buttons in upper left
buttons in upper right
Click and drag to change view
Note, make sure to only use those buttons when views other than camera are selected!

How to move objects in 3d space

3d handles

Camera/basic motion behaviors- allow you to control how camera moves through space
Can be keyframes like anything else, also add behaviors
Different in complexity and effect from moving objects in space
